The survey asked patrons about their preferred hours and we chose the option that was most popular. The historical data was from the library’s attendance for the past 6 months. Saturdays were the least attended business day without exception. We hesitated to not have any Saturdays at all, which led to our being open the 2nd Saturday of each month.

If your child has a specific need from the library to help with a school project, please email us directly at coalfieldlibrary@yahoo.com.

Note: The previous hours were Monday – Wednesday 12:30 pm – 6:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am – 2:30 pm. Our library is only permitted to be open for 22 hours per week.

Sincerely, Coalfield Library Staff

Really wish you’d go back to 9 – 6 and open every Saturday.

They are not at all helpful for kids when they get out of school to do homework and not to mention the lack of Saturday hours now. Please go back to your old schedule!

I am looking for information on my great-great-grandfather, John Goddard. John married Nancy Ritter (misspelled as Ridder). His daughter, Catherine, married Robert Moore, who is my great grandfather, born in Kentucky and settled in Morgan/Roane county. Dates I know are 1858 (Robert’s birth) and 1931 (Catherine and Robert’s death). If you know anything of John Goddard, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks.

I will be at my mothers’s March 9th to the 13th and I am looking for pictures of the coal camp or any family members. I found A story (one page of it) “The Coalfield Camp” by Armethia Wiggins Lively that has a picture of my great-grandfathers, Bill Woods and wife Becky’s house. It is grainy in the print.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Dolores

I am John Rice Irwin’s (Founder of the Museum of Appalachia) assistant and Mr. Irwin would like a photograph of Ms. Byrd if one is available. Thanks.
